“These are from a series of pieces focusing on TV studio audiences. I am fascinated by the conundrum of the viewing audience watching, on their television’s, images of another audience. I am also interested in studying how the studio audience has come to be used as a kind of Greek chorus that comments on the main action taking place on the screen, and acts as a kind of emotional guide for the reactions of the audience at home. Finally, I find it startling to see the differences in character and mood each of the different audience types projects. In this I find some interesting parallels between the nature of an audience and that of a mob.”
