Matthew Brannon (b. 1971 in St. Maries, Idaho) is known for his sharp literary sensibility that he imbues in his approach to printmaking, which often results in unique artworks rather than multiples. He also produces paintings and sculptures which too, have an intellectual engagement as the armature for their formal qualities. Since 2015, Brannon has focused the majority of work to the Vietnam War, as a generational trauma, which still affects contemporary culture. Brannon has exhibited work at the Marino Marini Museum in Florence, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Hammer Museum, and DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art in Athens.
