“E” is the fifth issue of Provence, an eight-issue magazine “dedicated to hobbies,“ produced in Nice. In the art world, where the line between work and free time rarely exists at all, the editors of Provence have deemed it necessary to "open up some space to reflect on creation and recreation. Pursuing hobbies is a chance to switch sides, to find another vantage point from which to look back at our assumed positions, at our own operations within the discourse of contemporary art.”
Each issue is named for a different letter of the magazine’s title. The fifth issue, “E", includes a document by Paul Thek and Edwin Klein, Textiles: Open Letters by Rike Frank and Grant Watson, a reportage on Andreas Dorau, Lars Eidinger on Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Fernando Mesta on Joseph Strau’s jewelry and “A Drive” by Robert Walser with an introduction by Susan Bernofsky.
