Z Art No. 15 is the 15th installment in Czech artist Martin Zet’s Z art series. This black and white, staple bound zine is an exploration into typography. Letters are used, not to convey language, but instead, as marks. Each tiny letter mark, is obscured by an overlaying letter, so that the dominant letter is indecipherable. Zet is pushing the letter to act as a drawing indicator rather than a language indicator, but how far must letters be pushed for us not to simply read them? That is the question at stake in this zine, self published in 2012.
Martin Zet is an artist from the Czech Republic, who publishes books in addition to making large scale installations. Both his installations and publications are poetic yet grounded in the everyday, whether that be through language or casual interactions.
