Under the nom de plume antoine lefebvre editions, Antoine Lefebvre has undertaken a research project that “aims to produce a reference book on the subject of contemporary art zines.” All of his work on the topic to date is available at artzines.info. ARTZINES is the website’s physical counterpart, a “meta-zine,” each issue of which is dedicated to the zine scene of a different city.

ARTZINES #2 covers Tokyo, to which Lefebvre travelled as a researcher for the issue. It features a number of interviews with Japanese underground artists, original artwork from “Himaa” (Masanao Hirayama), a bookstore directory, and discussion of the Tokyo zine vis-à-vis Japan’s influential mainstream publishing scene.
