“The protagonist finds common semiotic points in a loose and free reading of the violence in network prophecy. A real dynamic object without the terrible desire making sense hypnotizing anyone’s psychic space. Fourteen pages from the circle of Hell. A dynamic object existing in perfection living in media streams occurrences in the common physical spaces.” - The artist
Androgyny Is Survival is a fourteen-page zine by artist Samuel Ostermann. Printed on light pink paper, the zine collects a series of images of texts. Some are famous, such as the lyrics to The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” or the Coca-Cola label, while others are random words removed from all context, such as “Gay For Pay” and “Props.” Together with the title, the zine suggests the frivolity, or failures, of language, understanding words as visual signs as much as communicators of intentioned meaning.
