Paranoia Paradise Volumes One and Two were published as an accompaniment to Jayne County’s 2018 art exhibition, also called Paranoia Paradise at Participant, Inc. in New York City, and are comprised of recent interviews by Michael Fox with County.
In Volume One, County talks about art: “I think that my art serves as a way of putting out the fuse before it ignites and becomes a ballistic bomb of some sort. Some people are at odds with the world and they become serial killers, and others become artists.”
Volume One also covers God, Pork, Gay life, self-identity, Lou Reed and Rachel, identity politics, Andy Warhol, John Lennon, Max’s Kansas City, and family and includes a 6” x 4” color c-print by Fox titled Jayne County Mona Lisa.
Volume Two features County talking about being gender fluid, cats, The Dave Clark Five, politics, Berlin, New York, Squeezebox, Hedwig and sex work and includes a 6” x 4” color c-print by Fox titled Jayne Pumping Gas.
Volumes One and Two are sold as a numbered set and were produced as an edition of 150 copies, and the first 50 sets, as presented here, are signed by County. - Michael Fox
