Korean artist Seungwhan Kim (also known as Bird Pit) satirizes museum goers and art viewership in Art Hole.
Using his signature pencil illustrations, Kim outlines the realities of modern day visitation to museums and galleries, using contemporary art and technology as key points for humorous investigation. Within the world Kim creates, cellphone, selfie sticks, and people who adorn themselves in art-related garb—hats; t-shirts; phone stickers—dominate. Art objects become secondary to their potential for online appreciation, and their respective institutions, and collections, are framed within their monetary aspirations.
Each edition of Art Hole comes with a circular pin featuring one of Kim’s illustrations.
