«DOMUSONG» studies the possibility of expanding the notion of ‘Domusong,’ which is the post-processing method of cutting paper in desired shapes after printing, onto paper, space, and objects. This method perceives paper as space. As the title of this book, this post-processing ‘Domusong’ printing method creates the leftover realm(space) on paper during the paper cutting process that results in creating intended shapes. Since 2015, I have collected ‘scrap paper’ by-product that is made during Domusong printing process while I can observe various ways paper uses space. Such series of works have allowed me, as a graphic designer, to intervene between the printer and the printed material and search for other possibilities that could arise during the whole process. It has endlessly stimulated my visual sense.
FRAME Another kind of scrap paper is the ‘paper format’ which allows economical production of printed material with the least margin. Through these types of elements, I focus on the leftover space on paper. Whereas the scrap paper form collected for ‹3MM› is expressed with a playful tone, basic familiar figures used in ‹FRAME› convey the structure of frame. The repetitive movement of basic figures creates new frames according to the series of rules.
