Wrapper is produced in support of Printed Matter for the occasion of Printed Matter + EXILE Books at NADA Miami 2021. This new work is part of a recent series of Whitaker’s photographs that investigate the rich and estranging sensory potential of silhouettes and patterns, pushing the human female form into alien terrain. Through elaborate lighting configurations, props, and constructed sets, the work presents an optically charged world informed by technology’s failed promise of a frictionless existence.
