This book, created for Terminal Ediciones -DistANSIAS- series, it´s a project in which Kevin Quiles Bonilla (b. 1992) speaks from a disaster perspective. Not only referencing the destructive power of Hurricane María, but the domination and abandonment politics of his home country Puerto Rico, here represented through the blue tarp: pieces of plastic distributed to the island residents as a precarious, and supposedly temporal, solution for their homelessness.
In the midst of the events as surprising as the one we are experiencing, Kevin’s work acquires an unusual force: anchored to his body and queer identity, references to the diasporic experience, migratory movements, and colonialist and power practices connect to weave a solid and fragile speech, as contradictory and unique as the times that run today.
