Pensamiento Tropical (Tropical Though) is a dysrhythmic periodical, created by Ramón Miranda Beltrán and publish by Ediciones STL focusing on cultural production around the equator of the earth. With each issue Ramón invites a new guest to write, design or contribute art work to the publication.
This is its first issue and it compiles a selection of photographs taken by Ramón Miranda Beltrán as part of an anarcho-speleological exploration project of the underground cave system on the island of Borinquen, done in collaboration with the Guano Crew.
The photographs are accompanied by the essay Feoría General de las Cuevas, written for the occasion by Javier Fresneda. The essay formulates an ‘ugly theory’ that combines the modern hallucinatory phenomenon with the rock inscriptions found by the author at Black’s Beach (San Diego, CA). -Publisher
