Hand-painted poster in solidarity with the Palestinian people and in opposition to the abhorrent genocidal attack they are under right now. The idea behind the poster is to depict the relationship between the Palestinian people and their land, through one of the most representative plants found on the Palestinian landscape. The ‘akkoub plant (Gundelia tournefortii), a kind of artichoke, is essential to Palestinian culture and tradition.
As I was painting the leaf of the ‘akkoub plant, I noticed that the leaf’s veins looked remarkably similar to the interlinked patterns of the keffiyeh, the symbol of the Palestinian resistance. Then, I realized that resistance has always been embedded into the land and its people.
Ceasefire now. Free Palestine. Decolonize every land. End Apartheid. End all systems of oppression. -Publisher
