The zine series FRIEND APPLICATION was initially started as an application for “getting a friend” instead of “getting a job.” Through the niche world of doodle album covers, this third volume explores the ties between innatism and good music. Featuring interviews and articles focusing on bands with approaches to songwriting as primitive as their approach to album art, Doodle Albums attempts to crawl up through ear and down into the amygdala to unearth raw truths and emotion. Each page is hand-illustrated with crayons and sharpies.
Interviews with: John Tally-Jones of the Urinals, Al Larkin and Rick Johnson of feedtime, Claire Barrow (also featuring two of her doodles). Other bands mentioned…: The Butthole Surfers, Happy Flowers, The Clean. -Publisher
