This is a zine made by Asher with Citation Needed.
Chaos is a three-part book of pen drawings, featuring distinct explorations: chaos, school memes, and squares. In this universe, 1 + 1 = 50, “lying kid” has $1 grand, “outdated kid” says “welcome to the 90’s,” and life is a square. Asher’s quick and complex drawing style paired with wit and bizarreness make this a collection the true embodiment of its title.
Asher is a crazy 3rd grader that lives in the East Village and is the clown of his class. He loves playing video games and does not have that good behavior in school but he knows he will be a good adult. Asher loves reading Harry Potter and has a twin clone who goes evil every 5 days. Asher only works in black and white. Several of the drawings in this book were also made by Ben. Thank you, Ben!
Citation Needed is an intergenerational publishing initiative, supporting the creation and production of artist books by 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Through a weekly workspace, participants generate individual and collaborative books, utilizing photocopiers, typewriters, and a range of drawing materials. Citation Needed provides project-based arts experiences for children while amplifying their voices through the printed matter and book arts. This initiative is led by artist Ari Wolff, in collaboration with the 14th Street Y After School and Printed Matter / St Marks.
