The History of All Hitherto Existing Society is a sound performance composed and performed by Chang Yuchen. The work is a live experiment on the relationship between vocabulary and grammar, sound image and semiotic system, great ideas and small persons. A signed/numbered artists’ book based on the score of this sound piece (a simple pamphlet that records/reflects the length, density and movement of the work) will be released at the event. The History of All Hitherto Existing Society is softcover, stitch-bound publication produced in an edition of 50. It retails for $10.00.

Performance will begin at 6 PM.   Chang Yuchen was born in Shanxi, China in 1989, now she lives and works in New York. Her solo exhibition Chang Yuchen: Snake and Others is currently on view at Fou gallery, New York.
