Mixed Media Recordings have published four artist-made slip mats featuring the work of Machaela Meise, James Hoff, Zak Prekop and New Humans. The slip mats - which are made to sit on a turntable under an LP - are medium weight, felt construction and produced in an edition of 50. Join us for an event to launch the series to date with DJ sets from James Hoff, Zak Prekop and New Humans!

Michaela Meise is an artist living and working in Berlin, Germany. From her last series of ceramic portraits the slipmat shows a detail of “Sookee sous Reglindis”. The portrait of german Hip Hop musician Sookee had been developed vis-à-vis. Later a photo of the medieval sculpture “Reglindis” was laminated on the glazed ceramic.

James Hoff is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. His recent sound works, paintings and sculptures are composed by infecting digital image and audio files with computer viruses.

Formed in 2003, New York-based New Humans make collaborative works at the intersection of sound, installation, and performance actions. New Humans emerged out of Mika Tajima's art practice and is a moniker for her projects with other musicians, artists and designers.

Zak Prekop lives and works in Brooklyn.  His paintings often work with both sides of transparent canvas, where shapes and marks interact with patterns and structures. Prekop also plays music with the band Hurray, which was formed in 2003.  They have released five LP’s the latest of which is called More Opiates and Bike Song.
