Ferrick’s Dognurse is a 40 page book that follows the character Songy, who is afflicted with an ailment called mumblemouth that makes her speech difficult to comprehend, and a hired caretaker’s attempts to understand her.
Westvind’s book, Grip, is comparable to a graphic novel. She writes, “There is a kind of control - of the hands - a type of touch - that is skillful and sure, a graceful and practiced ability, to manipulate… anything… After a strange incident a young women’s hands are never still.”
