The Patio, the Small Room, the Long Walk, by Justin Hunt Sloane, is a non linear narrative based on the translation of a dream written down by the artist immediately after waking. The book is an attempt at understanding the way optical translation distorts and transforms images seen during consciousness and plays them back in response to blind stimulus.

The book is organized into sections that imply a narrative structure without explicitly outlining any beginning or end, drawing from a selection of work primarily composed of charcoal studies and collages that began in 2009 and developed until the present. The work reflects the often overlooked and seemingly meaningless moments catalogued in the subconscious; cartoons, scraps of ads and banal views of the American household.

Justin Sloane is and artist and designer originally from central California, now based in Brooklyn, New York. He received a BFA in printing and interactive media from Art Center College of Design in 2010.

From 2011-2012 He worked as the design director for Creative Time, NYC based public arts non-profit. Through Creative Time he worked with artists and curators to produce digital projects and exhibition branding.
