The final installment of Creative Time’s multi-part project by Paul Chan, Waiting for Godot in New Orleans: A Field Guide brings together a comprehensive collection of primary ephemera, photographs, articles, and essays that explore the project’s unique community-centric process from conception to completion. Using post-Katrina New Orleans as a backdrop, Chan– aided by Creative Time– staged four free performances of Samuel Beckett’s essential existentialist play, Waiting For Godot, juxtaposing the current humanitarian crisis against Beckett’s narrative of expectation and open-ended disappointment. Contributors include Alain Badiou, Andrea Boll, David Cuthbert, Terry Eagleton, Lolis Eric Elie, Anne Gisleson, Greta Gladney, Robert Green, Kathy Halbreich, Jed Horne, Ashley Jones, Gavin Kroeber, Christopher Mcelroen, Anne Pasternak, Kalamu ya Salaam, Natalie Sciortino-Rinehart, Cauleen Smith, Susan Sontag, and Nato Thompson.
