DI / AGNOSTIC _ is a book of poetry, formatted like a comic book by writer Hannah Buonaguro and artist Shawn Kurunero. _DI / AGNOSTIC is a black and white, staple bound book is a collaborative project between Buonaguro and Kurunero. Buonaguro’s poems are broken up and placed into speech bubbles, surrounded by the drawings of Kurunero. The poem and drawings are not directly related to one another, aside from their physical proximity. They each inform each other, deepening the meaning of the visual and the poetic. The unique structure of the comic slices the poetry so that it can be contained in smaller, interrelated parts. This approach opens up a new way of utilizing the comic book format as a container for language.
