SCHMIDTI CITY is an artist book by Kristina Schmidt and provides an inventory of 128 paintings, painted in New York City in the years 2018-2021, accompanied by a poem by Kyrill Constantinides Tank and a text by Scott Roben.
Kristina Schmidt’s practice oscillates between making paintings and exploring time-based sculptural forms, materials, symbols and relations. With a focus on the history and presence of painting, Kristina Schmidt echoes concepts such as the artist’s subjectivity and the artwork’s autonomy. Kristina Schmidt’s first solo show was titled SCHMIDTI CITY and took place at Galerie Christine Mayer in Munich in 2020.
