Artist Mosie Romney has produced a new limited edition artwork on the occasion of Printed Matter’s 2022 NY Art Book Fair.
Dancehall Dream twirls around a mise en abyme; hands on knees in the corner of the earth; celestial lion. Romney’s artistic practice often explores the possibilities of turning representation on its head. Vibrant color spills out on a matte gray background, bouncing off a silver iridescence. Inflections of green across this 12-color screen print glow in the dark—a nod to both the club and the bedroom. Your eyes lock into the eyes of a planet, an animal, a dancer, and onto a trail of entrancing color. This artwork is in constant motion, and so are you, as every glance produces a different, glimmering effect.
